FMN DITA .. refers to the DITA support that is provided by default in FM9 and FM8.

DITA-FMx .. is a plugin that provides extended DITA authoring support for FM9, FM8, FM7.2 and FM7.1. More info...

SUMMARY:  FM crashes when saving to XML
ISSUE:  When converting from unstructured to DITA XML, when I save a file as XML, FM crashes with the message ..

    ditafmx_app got assertion failure.

What's up?
SOLUTION:  There are lots of reasons that FM can crash, but I've seen this same problem twice in the same week now (from different people), so it seems like this could be worth noting.

It turns out that if an element defined as a marker is saved to XML to a data model that doesn't include that marker definition, FM will crash. This happens in both FM7.2 and FM8. Basically any undefined marker-element saved to XML (copy-paste from another file where it's valid) will crash FM.

This is a core FM bug and not related to DITA or DITA-FMx. It has been reported to Adobe and will hopefully be fixed in a future update. Until that's available the only "fix" is to make sure you don't have any marker-elements in your file before saving to XML .. they must be defined in the EDD of the app.
