Can't get rid of empty pages |
| ISSUE: |
You delete the empty pages at the end of an XML file, then save and close .. when you reopen the file, the empty pages are there again. |
| SOLUTION: |
If you're using the Attribute Filtering feature in FM8, that may be the cause. The Attribute Filtering feature is automatically applied after the file has opened, but when the file initially opens, all of the filtered content is visible. After the filtering is done, you may be left with empty pages.
Unfortunately, this happens in XML files as well as FM binary files, so unlike the use of conditions, which remain hidden in FM binary files, the use of attribute filtering will always result in empty blank pages if the filtering is applied to a significant amount of content.
The only real solution is to use the DITA-FMx "Apply Ditaval as Conditions" command or West Street Consulting's ABCM plugin (it's free), since both of these methods apply conditions which do remain hidden when working with binary FM files.
