SUMMARY:  Tip: use tables in your conref library
ISSUE:  One way to use conrefs is to create a "conref library" file, which is a regular DITA topic which contains all the text which you want to reuse in your topics by "conreffing" it. For example, this conref library file may contain all the menu names <uicontrol> and all the names of the dialog boxes <wintitle> of the software you're describing.

If you use conrefs intensively, the list of elements in your conref library may become very long. Consequently, when you insert the conref in your topic using DITA-FMx > Insert Conref command, you may see a long list in the Reference Manager, and it may take some time to find the element you wish to conref.
SOLUTION:  You can put the elements in your conref library in tables and sort these tables alphabetically. This list will also show up as sorted in the Reference Manager, so it will be easier for you to find the element you wish to conref. You can also use one table for each element, for example a table which contains all your <wintitle> elements, one for all your <uicontrol> elements etc.
